It was described as 'bad and disrespectful', the friend of Selena

After fans questioned the friendship between Selena Gomez and her BFF Raquelle Stevens following the release of the singer's "My Mind & Me" documentary, Raquelle has finally broken her silence.

Selena Gomez's best friend wants to tell you something you don't know.

Three months after releasing the single—which also featured Selena's friendship with the "Sunshine Mind" singer—Raquelle is finally responding to critics.

"Anytime you do something public in life, you're subject to other people's opinions," Raquelle said during an appearance on the Chicks in the Office podcast. "You're just not going to go there if you're not willing to be able to handle the commentary, but the biggest thing for me was that the documentary was a beautiful and wonderful piece of work that Selena shared with the world without filters."

As the 30-year-old pointed out, "It was her life story and part of what went into that documentary was our friendship, which is special and honest and true."

Shortly after the release of the documentary in November 2022, Raquelle faced criticism from fans on the Internet who called her "condescending" and "controlling" during their interactions.

But for Raquelle, her connection to the world music star goes beyond what fans could see.

"I think what's a good reminder is that when people see videos on Instagram, TikTok, or when you see a documentary, you're getting a small glimpse into someone's life, you're not seeing the whole picture," she continued. . "And the truth is, we've had a friendship that's lasted a decade because it's true, it's honest, and I'm very grateful for that."

For Raquelle, reacting against criticism is quite simple, as she explained that her inner peace is quite unshakable.

"When your inner life is strong and you live a life of integrity, you sleep soundly every night," she noted. "And no matter what you face, what you go through — there's a peace that comes with living a life of integrity, and so I'm really confident in who I am. I know what kind of friend I am."
