Nagip Krasniqi pleads not guilty to abuse charges

The trial has begun in the case against former KEK CEO Nagip Krasniqi, former KEK Acting Director of Procurement Ymer Dragusha, and lawyer Isuf Zejna. They are accused of the criminal offenses of “abuse of official duty or authority”, “disclosure of official secret” and “assistance in the abuse of official duty or authority”.

Former CEO of KEK, Nagip Krasniqi, has declared himself “completely innocent”. Defendant Isuf Zejna has not pleaded guilty. Former head of procurement at KEK, Ymer Dragusha, accused of abuse of office, has accepted the prosecution’s proposal to plead guilty and the prosecution’s recommendation for sentencing.

"Based on the plea agreement for the accused Ymer Dragusha, we consider that the same is concluded in full compliance with 4 criminal offenses of abuse of official duty in co-perpetration with the defendant Nagip Krasniqi, sufficiently justified that this plea agreement was made voluntarily in consultation with the defense and the other side with all material and non-material evidence that supports the indictment. The defendant Ymer Dragusha has agreed to the type of sentence recommended by the prosecution and other arrangements that are in these agreements. For count 1, a sentence of 8 months has been recommended, for count 2, a sentence of 6 months, for count 3, 6 months, and for the criminal offense from the fourth provision, 6 months, which with a unique sentence has been calculated at 2 years, which will not be executed, if the defendant meets these conditions. "The probation comes with his obligation to fulfill his obligations as a cooperating witness on May 19, 2023. I propose to find him guilty and sentence him to the recommended sentence," said Fejzullahu.

The defendant Dragusha and his lawyer Sabrije Krasniqi have accepted the prosecution's recommendation for sentencing. The presiding judge, Rrahman Beqiri, has postponed the announcement of the verdict until the conclusion of the criminal case.

The indictment states that with their illegal actions they have caused damage to the Kosovo budget, approximately 37 million euros.

This is the second indictment against Krasniqi. In the other indictment filed for corruption, Krasniqi has also pleaded not guilty.

In the first indictment, where Krasniqi is accused of corruption, the Prosecution claims that his actions have damaged the state with 531,920 euros in taxes, as well as KEK with over 3.2 million euros, due to being fined by ERO for trading with unlicensed enterprises in Kosovo.
