Ambassador Scott: US Recognize EU Dialogue Leadership and Need for Tax Lifting

Kosovo should lift taxes on goods from central Serbia in order to ensure talks resumption between Belgrade and Pristina, and should recognize European Union leadership in that process, US ambassador in Serbia Kyle Scott declared.

Asked whether the US will use its authority to convince Pristina to return to the negotiating table, Scott underlined that the US still recognizes EU leadership in that process and that the most important thing is that all sides return to the negotiating table.

He added that the US has clearly announced to the Kosovo government that taxes are an obstacle for resuming the dialogue and that these administrative obstacles should be removed.

Scott made these statements to journalists following the signing of two donations agreements of the US to Serbia, which value exceeds 20 million dollars.
