Berisha: Albania in emergency, we will prepare a 100-day package

Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha said that Albania is in a state of emergency.

Berisha said that the Democratic Party is preparing the package for the first 100 days of government, which will be a package with immediate and transformative effect for all Albanians.

"During the period that we governed for two terms, we doubled salaries, we doubled pensions, we increased exports by 320%, we increased foreign investments by 300%. Where are the exports today?

From 2023 to 2024, they have fallen by 32%. This is a catastrophic fall, 32%. Nothing expresses production and employment more than exports.

Exports were brought down by the narco-euro. The euro has become a toxic currency for us. 35, 38% devaluation. No intervention, no compensation from the government, just a reflection.

Industrial production has been declining progressively for 6 semesters. Agricultural production is declining.

We will do everything for an Albania that produces, produces, produces. Because this country has extraordinary production potential. We will encourage production with fiscal incentives, loans and many other mechanisms, which our experts have elaborated very well.

Today, the Albanian economy is based on construction, but Albania is very interesting. When one sees these towers, and we have shown that we have the tallest buildings in Europe, one thinks that the banks here are in great activity. No, unfortunately the banks are almost asleep, because only 800 million out of the 4 billion euros invested in these towers come from the banks, the rest comes from underground.

What is the result? The result is: a young man has to work 100 years to weave his dream in Tirana, to buy a house, to have an apartment. He can't buy it. That's why he runs away to anywhere in Europe, except Munich and Paris, he buys it cheaper than here.

This situation is an emergency, we will put an end to it. We will reverse the distribution of the budget and national income. We will give absolute priority to investment in human resources. We will take every measure so that Albanians return to their country, so that their investments find success. We will do everything so that the Albanian farmer becomes a competitor with farmers from other countries. We will encourage production and processing in this sector where half of Albanians are employed.

We will increase pensions substantially, we will set the living minimum at 200 euros.

Friends, you've seen Edi Rama, who, in order to deceive pensioners, puts businessmen on one side and pensioners on the other. And he says, "These people," he says, "don't pay social security."

Yes, did you know that the biggest debtor in social security is Edi Rama and his administration. Every pensioner should know how much he owes the insurance fund, 100 million euros. That he keeps the administration employees in the black. That he has increased the number of administration employees by 3 times only for electoral effects, but does not pay them social security.

The fight against informality will start from the state. Of course, we are a small government. We are conservatives, we remain a small government.

So, we will prepare a 100-day package, which will have a liberating, transformative effect on the lives of all Albanians in need. It will have an extremely important, transformative effect on all businesses, on all farmers.

"Albania is in an emergency and we will respond to it with an emergency ," Berisha declared.
