Grama Bay deserves to be included in the List of World Heritage Properties protected by UNESCO!

With an official request dated September 10, 2023, I addressed the Director of the UNESCO World Heritage Center in Paris to consider the inclusion of Grama Bay in the UNESCO world heritage.

I accompanied the request with a Statement of Outstanding Universal Values of Grama Bay, based on the special nomination criteria, as well as with the description of the integrity, authenticity and imminent danger of the Property.

According to a study by Professor Neritan Ceka, there are hundreds of engraved inscriptions in Grama Bay since the 6th century BC, when the Bay was used as a quarry, and later, where prominent personalities, sailors and other travelers stopped. there to avoid the not infrequent storms of the Otranto Channel, leaving us their "business cards" carved into the rock even today.

All Albanians win if Grama Bay is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

This request was made after the public denunciation of the journalist Blendi Fevziu, on the vandalism and destruction of inscriptions in Grama Bay, I felt it my duty to do something as a deputy of the Vlora district, in addition to joining the denunciation. And I am grateful to Mr. Fevziu for sensitizing public opinion and institutions in support of this request.

The Ministry of Culture, Elva Margariti, has shown over time that she has no interest in protecting our cultural heritage, if she does not see them as a source of concession.

Therefore, I address with a public appeal for support of the proposal, the new Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Igli Hasani, Ambassador to UNESCO, Mrs. Besiana Kadare to move forward with this request. As well as other Albanian personalities, public figures for a positive awareness of the institutions to follow this issue.
