40 kg of cocaine and 189 thousand euros seized in Italy, 53-year-old Albanian

A 53-year-old Albanian man has been arrested by Italian authorities after a police operation on the Perugia-Bettolle ring road. According to local media, over 40 kilograms of cocaine and 189,000 euros in cash were seized from the Albanian.

It all started during a routine check by police patrols, who noticed a suspicious vehicle. During the stop, the driver's nervous behavior aroused the suspicions of the officers, who carried out a thorough search. Under the passenger seat, a secret compartment was discovered where a one-kilogram block of drugs was found.

The investigations were further extended, in collaboration with the Parma Police Commissariat, leading to the search of a garage owned by the arrested person in Salsomaggiore. Inside the premises, 39 more blocks of cocaine, weighing over 40 kg, were discovered, as well as a considerable amount of cash - around 189 thousand euros.

According to police calculations, the seized drugs could generate up to 4 million euros on the illegal market.

The 53-year-old has been arrested for possession and trafficking of narcotics and is in police custody awaiting further investigative action.
