The police dismantled an Albanian criminal gang, during an operation in the northwest of Melbourne.

According to foreign media, during the operation, 2 people were arrested and nearly $300,000 was seized from a Taylors Hill property, and 700 cannabis plants.

The suspected leader, 47-year-old Ditan Ndreu, was arrested at the scene. The Albanian is accused of cultivation and trafficking of large commercial quantities of cannabis and possession of the products of the criminal offense.

Also arrested was Shirley Rodriguez, a 44-year-old Colombian woman who was on a student visa.

The investigation began in June when police received a tip about suspicious behavior at one of the addresses.

In total, during this operation, more than one ton of cannabis worth about 5 million dollars was seized.
