Edit Shkreli, an Albanian-American who won the race for judge in the New York Civil Court in the United States of America, has already taken the oath.

The former director of the State Police, Gladis Nano, was also present at the swearing-in ceremony of the judge, who published photos with Edita and the swearing-in ceremony on Facebook.

He writes that he gladly accepted the invitation of his early family friend to be by her side on the day of the oath.

"I gladly accepted the invitation from Edith Shkreli, an early friend of my family, to witness this important ceremony of her acceptance as a judge of the Supreme Court of the Bronx, New York. It was exciting to stand next to a pioneer who embodies justice and professional excellence, as the first Albanian judge in the American court. This is not only a personal commitment, but a milestone that engraves the history of Albanian achievements in the world. I am proud to represent our common Albanian heritage on a very prestigious stage. Good luck Edith!' - writes Nano.

On November 7, 2023, two candidates, Carol Malcolm and Edith Shkreli, ran in the Special General Election for New York Civil Court of the First District of the Bronx Municipal Court.

Edit was born in Shkodër, and immigrated to America with her parents when she was 13 years old to escape the riots of March 1997. Her father, Ing. Skender Shkreli has directed the construction of roads, bridges, plants and hydropower plants everywhere in Albania. Also, Ing. Shkreli was the chief engineer of the elimination of the consequences of the terrible earthquake of 1979 with the epicenter in Dajç on the Buna coast and the chief engineer of the asphalting company for the entire North area. Her mother, Elida Shkreli, worked as a monetary circulation economist at the Shkodër State Bank, today the National Commercial Bank.
