Taulant Balla is sworn in as Minister of the Interior before President Bajram

Taulant Balla was sworn in today as Minister of the Interior before the president, Bajram Begaj.

The swearing-in ceremony started at 11:00. Balla was appointed Minister of the Interior a few days ago, after the dismissal of Bledi Çuçi.

We recall that Çuçi's dismissal came after the incident in Krujë, where the brothers, son and relatives of Rrahman Rraja brutally raped Bilbil and Jashar Maja, after the conflict over a quarry.

Taulant Balla started his political career in 2004, where he served as an adviser to the prime minister of that time, Fatos Nano. He was first elected deputy of Librazhdi in 2005, at the age of 28, and since then he has not been absent from the Parliament of Albania. After the 2017 elections, Taulant Balla was appointed chairman of the socialist parliamentary group.

At the same time, he was appointed Chairman of the Delegation of the Parliament of Albania to the European Parliament and Vice Chairman of the National Council of European Integration. After the resignation of Gramoz Ruçi, Balla was elected General Secretary of the Socialist Party, a post he held until after the 2021 elections, where he was replaced by Damian Gjiknuri.

Balla is the deputy of the Elbasan District and political leader for the Socialist Party in the Fier District. Earlier, he led the district of Elbasan, where he got the best electoral result in the elections of 2017 and 2021, both for the socialists, but also as a deputy he was the most voted nationally.
