The devastating earthquake in Turkey and Syria, the European Union reacts

 

The European Union has reacted after the devastating 7.8-magnitude earthquake that struck the border between Turkey and Syria, leaving thousands dead and injured.

In a post on Twitter, the representative of Foreign Policy in the EU, Josep Borrell, writes that the union is ready to offer help to the countries that were hit by the earthquake.

"A devastating earthquake shook Turkey and Syria this morning, killing hundreds of people and injuring many more. Our thoughts are with the people of Turkey and Syria. The EU is ready to help" , writes Borrell.

More than 500 people have been killed in two countries after a powerful 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck southern Turkey this morning. In Syria, at least 237 people were killed and 639 were injured.
