While last year the olive production was very good, it seems that this season will not go at the same pace. Farmers and processors say that expectations are for a lower quantity and therefore less oil on the market. According to them, this will make the liter of olive oil reach up to 10 thousand old lek.

Due to the drop in production, it seems that the country will not benefit from the oil crisis that has affected European countries such as Italy, France, or Spain. Whereas, the last season is considered a success due to the opening of exports with Italy.

Olive production set a record during 2022 with an increase several times higher than other products in the country. So, if in 2021 nearly 110 thousand tons of olives were produced, during the year we left behind, the production reached 152.6 thousand tons. While almost 5 thousand tons of olive oil were exported only in the first half of 2023, SCAN reports.
