Police demand property investigation into businessman Edmond Bego

The State Police has asked the Prosecution to launch a rich investigation against the businessman, Edmond Bego, who is suspected of having committed the criminal offense of money laundering.

Who is Edmond Bego

Bego has been investigated several times for the property but in no case has there been a result of blocking his property. He was sentenced in Italy to 11 years in prison for participating in a criminal organization for the purpose of trafficking drugs, heroin and cocaine.

The decision by the Italian justice was taken on April 26, 2007 initially at 27 years and 9 months, reduced to 18 years and 5 months, and finally as a beneficiary of the 2009 amnesty he was sentenced to 11 years in prison. For the same case in Italy, he was arrested years ago in Albania, then named Manoli Bega.

It was December 24, 2009 when the directorate against organized crime in Tirana arrested him in the capital. The police report 9 years ago underlined the fact that the arrested Manoli Bega, born in Lushnje and resident in Tirana, was also known by several other names such as: Edmond Bego, Saimir Sina and Belul Gjahtari. The December 2009 police report also stated that the detainee was involved in a criminal organization that also included Aldo Bare, Enver Dondollaku, while he was decisive in maintaining links with suppliers, coordinating the activity and other members of the organization. , as well as organizer for the distribution and administration of money obtained from narcotics trafficking.

Based on the decision of the High Court in Tirana in 2010, Bego was released for less than 3 years in prison. He was detained in 2018 by the Greek police while returning to Albania from Corfu where he was vacationing with his family, where he was arrested on behalf of the Italian authorities but on an already expired arrest warrant. He was detained with a passport with the changed name in Mond Bega, as he still has today, through which he had crossed from Albania to Corfu.

This ban ignited the political scene at that time as there were accusations from the opposition for strong ties of Bego with the Socialist Party and especially with the number two of this party, the General Secretary Taulant Balla.

The DP accused Balla of having close ties to Begon from which he has won tenders. Taulant Balla, was accused by the PD MP, Ervin Salianji that he has traveled abroad several times with his car, but also by charter in some places with Edmond Begon.

Faced with opposition allegations that he is his business partner, Balla clarified that he knows his family, but does not know where the character has ever had a political shield.
