Inaugurated street named after Fan Noli in New York

In a US neighborhood, in Morris Park in the Bronx of New York, the street named after the writer, and the Albanian cleric politician Fan Stilian Noli has been inaugurated.

The news was announced by the Albanian politician in America, Mark Gjonaj. The street was named in honor of the Albanian writer, scholar, diplomat and founder of the Albanian Orthodox Church.

"A moment of festive pride for American Albanians as we discovered Fan Noli Street in the Morris Park section of the Bronx, in honor of a leader, writer, scholar, Albanian diplomat and founder of the Albanian Orthodox Church and Vatra, the Pan-Albanian Federation of America," writes Gjonaj on Twtter.

The naming of the street in honor of Noli was accompanied by a 'clash' between the New York City Council and the Albanian community in America. City Council member Marjorie Velazquez blocked the naming of this street among Fan Noli and the request addressed by the Albanian-American citizens.

As a writer, Noli has written and translated a number of texts from various genres and has contributed to journalism of the time as a director, editor and writer in several periodicals.
