Putin threatens Europe: If they provoke you, we will respond swiftly

Russian President Vladimir Putin has openly threatened Europe and NATO, warning that Moscow will respond swiftly to any potential provocation.

As he spoke of the hysterical militarization of the continent, he said he has no intention of attacking the US-led military alliance, but that they will not allow themselves weakness or indecision, CNN writes.

According to Putin, the main responsibility falls on the EU, which he says is escalating the conflict.

“We simply cannot ignore what is happening; we have no right to do so for reasons of our security. Therefore, we are closely monitoring the growing militarization of Europe. Are these just words, or is it time for us to take countermeasures? We hear in Germany, for example, that the German army should once again be the most powerful in Europe. Well, well, we are listening carefully, we are watching. What exactly is meant by this? I think no one doubts that Russia’s response will not be long in coming.

The response to these threats will be, to put it mildly, very convincing. But it will be a response; we ourselves have never initiated a military confrontation. But if someone wants to compete with us in the military sphere, then, as we say, let them try. Russia has proven time and again that when a threat arises to our security, the peace and tranquility of our citizens, our sovereignty and our statehood itself, we respond quickly. There is no need to provoke us.

"There has never been a case where this did not end badly for the provocateur. Our history has proven that weakness is unacceptable, because it creates temptation, the illusion that any issue with us can be resolved by force. Russia will never show weakness or indecision. Let those whom we hinder with our very existence, those who dream of inflicting this very strategic defeat on us, remember this ," Putin declared.
