Escorts, or as they are known in everyday jargon as the companions of famous people, are not only being 'used' in everyday life for people who enjoy complete freedom, referring to jurisprudence, but are also being used for those convicted or detained, who have not yet received a final sentence from the country's courts.

Such is the case or scandal recently discovered of an Albanian showbiz girl, who was taken to the Drenova prison cell to have a special meeting with one of the most well-known characters in the underworld, for whom a final decision has not yet been made.

For lawyer Ermal Hamataj, such a phenomenon is now a 'public secret' that everyone knows. Invited to the show Kafe Shqeto on Syri TV, Hamataj says that they have existed for years, and despite the measures that will be taken by the institutions responsible for the chain of command of the IEVPs in the country, the phenomenon will continue to exist as long as economic power is 'above the law'.

The law, emphasizes lawyer Hamataj, does not allow a special meeting for a detainee without authorization from the prosecutor in the case.

Referring to recent events, Hamataj says that it must be proven that the entry of these persons was granted in return for payment, which would constitute a violation of order and security and corruption of the prison leaders.

It's not something new. Since the invention of prisons, people who enjoy a better status will use them in all circumstances, even in the absence of freedom. This is now an open secret, which everyone knows.

A phenomenon that has existed for years, regardless of the measures that will be taken to dismiss a director here or there, will continue as long as economic power in Albania gives access to permitted or prohibited phenomena, which is a constant risk that will be repeated in the future.

There is a 2020 law on the rights of detainees and prisoners to special meetings, with their wives, fiancées and cohabitants. This is where the abuse begins. For detainees without a final decision, the entry of persons into the IEVP is only done with the authorization of the prosecutor of the case. The prison director grants authorization only to persons with a final sentence.

 You must prove that the entry of these persons was granted in return for payment, and this is a violation of order and security, as well as corruption of the prison leaders.

Today we are seeing that special meetings are being allowed for detainees by the director, while the meeting for them must only be by the prosecutor of the case. Otherwise, no one can enter, according to the law. /syri.tv
