'Pandora Papers' / The name of the Indian citizen with Albanian citizenship comes out, the businessman who cheated 2.1 billion dollars
An Indian citizen has appeared in the Pandora Paper scandal, which is also related to Albania. The rogue businessman Nitin Sandesara has been described as the tip of the iceberg of a giant financial scandal, which also includes Albania. There was a New Delhi court order against him and the other brother for their extradition. They are thought to still be in Albania, as they also have Albanian passports . They were building palaces in Albania in the most coveted areas of Tirana.
Writing for Sandesara
In 2017-18, when investigative agencies were busy investigating criminal cases against Nitin Sandesara and his Sterling Biotech group for a suspected over $ 2.1 billion bank loan fraud, Sandesara, who had fled India, was engaged in collecting securities, bonds from Nigerian banks and lawyers to set up a range of companies in the British Virgin Islands (BVI) to expand its oil business, writes Pandora Papers who has investigated from The Indian Express articles .
"We consider Nitin Jayantilal Sandesara as financially credible and with good morals from our relationship with him," Union Bank of Nigeria Plc said in a February 2018 reference letter to Fidelity Corporate Service Ltd.
Another March 2018 letter from Nigerian law firm EI Alosiba & Co said, "We have known Nitin Sandesara for 15 years and that is one of our best and most reliable acquaintances, he has never been involved in bankruptcy proceedings , criminal or similar. "
These letters were used by Sandesarat to set up at least half a dozen companies in BVI: Constant Capital and Investment Ltd; Prime Finance and Capital Alliance Ltd; Sterling Petroleum Trading Ltd; West Africa Capital Limited; African Capital Alliance Ltd and Continental Capital Alliance Ltd. The purpose of these companies, according to the data, was to invest in oil and gas firms in France, Nigeria, Great Britain, the United Arab Emirates and India.
The data show that Nitin Sandesara is the sole beneficiary owner of these firms and he has stated that the funds invested in these companies are his "savings". Most of these companies were created with an initial investment of USD 0.5 million and have an identical revenue forecast of USD 3 million in the first year of operations.
Company data show that West Africa Capital was created on November 8, 2017 with Nitin Sandesara as the sole owner holding 50,000 common shares of a single class with a par value of $ 1 each. The next day, Sandesara opened another firm called the African Capital Alliance with a similar stake.
But the scandal of the failure of the Albanian authorities is even bigger than that. Arriving in Albania at the end of 2017, Nitin and Chetankumar Sandesara have set up two companies in the construction sector, Tulja Real Estate and Laxmi Real Estate as shown in the registration documents at the national business center.
Both companies are registered with addresses in the dry lake area of Tirana. Exactly on the edge of the dry lake, Laxmi Real Estate is building the building together with an Albanian company, as shown by the construction permit issued by the Municipality of Tirana in November last year. Construction is considered by the US State Department and the European office for the prevention of money laundering as the most risky sector for money laundering in Albania./ Shekulli
