Every year, at the end of August, thousands of Bektashi believers and pilgrims from all over Albania and the diaspora climb to the top of Mount Tomorri, in one of the country's most important spiritual and cultural events.

The annual pilgrimage in honor of Saint Abaz Ali is not simply a physical journey to a holy place, but an inner journey towards peace, reflection, and devotion.

Mount Tomorr, known as the “holy mountain” in the Bektashi tradition, is the place where the soul of Abaz Ali, a holy figure who symbolizes justice, sacrifice and the protection of the weak, is believed to rest. According to belief, he came on horseback from Karbala to defend justice and bring light to the hearts of people. The pilgrimage coincides with the Day of Ashura, an important moment for the Bektashi community, which commemorates the martyrdom of Imam Hussein and the values of sacrifice and endurance.

During the pilgrimage, believers ascend to the Kulmak Tekke, set up tents near the saint's tomb, and perform various rituals such as slaughtering a sacrificial animal, usually a lamb, as a symbol of devotion and help to the poor.
There is no shortage of prayers near the tomb of Abaz Ali, where candles are lit.

The pilgrimage to Mount Tomorri is a symbol of religious tolerance, attended not only by Bektashis, but also by people of other religions, demonstrating interfaith coexistence and respect.
The event turns into a popular celebration, with songs, dances, sharing of food and traditional hospitality.
Mount Tomorri, as a natural monument, also represents man's connection with nature and his spiritual roots.
