Rejected in several countries, Kanye West 'blocks' Albania on July 11. A stadium is being built just for his performance

Rejected in several countries, Kanye West 'blocks' Albania on July 11.

Artist Kanye West, known as Ye, seems to have decided to pursue a new strategy for his global tour.

West will perform in Tirana on July 11, 2026, in a single concert that is expected to be one of the largest musical events ever organized in Albania.

The news was confirmed by the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sports, Blendi Gonxhja, through a post on Facebook, where he announced that the global artist, now known as Ye, will bring a "one-night-only" performance to Albania, conceived as a super-spectacle with international standards.

According to the announcement, the event will take place in a space specially dedicated to this performance, in a temporary stadium called "Eagle Stadium", built along the Tirana-Durres axis, with a capacity of around 60 thousand spectators.

The organization of the concert will be carried out by the international company Streetlife, in collaboration with Redcloud, which will support the technical and logistical implementation of the event on site.

Tickets for the concert can be found exclusively on the website www.yealbania.com and start at 99 euros or 9500 lekë.

Ticket sales reportedly start on May 5th for registered exclusive subscribers, and from May 6th for the general public.

Meanwhile, several European countries such as France, the United Kingdom, Poland and Switzerland have rejected or canceled events related to Ye. In contrast, Italy is still waiting for him to perform at a summer festival, despite growing political pressure.

According to the Vice-President of the European Parliament, Pina Picierno, such decisions show a clear division in the countries' attitude towards the artist and his activities.

The American artist is considered one of the most influential figures in the global music industry, with a career spanning more than two decades and iconic albums such as The College Dropout, Graduation, 808s & Heartbreak and Donda.

When doors don't open, Ye builds new ones. The controversial artist is reportedly moving forward with a massive plan related to his global tour, this time centered on Albania with a custom-built venue designed just for his performance.

According to Albania Post, Ye is overseeing the construction of the “Shqiponja Stadium,” a temporary venue expected to hold up to 60,000 people. The structure will be located along the Tirana-Durres corridor, positioning it to host what could become one of the country’s largest live music events to date. The scale alone signals that Ye is not slowing down, even as parts of Europe continue to distance themselves from him.

Albania's Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sports has publicly confirmed the project, presenting it as a major opportunity for tourism and the country's global visibility. Officials, including Blendi Gonxhja, appear focused on the economic side rather than the controversies that have followed Ye across borders.

This tension has not gone unnoticed. Several countries, including France, the United Kingdom, Poland and Switzerland, have either blocked or withdrawn from hosting the artist. Meanwhile, Italy still has plans in motion for his appearance at the Hellwatt Festival, although pressure from political figures continues to mount.

"The UK denied him a visa. France actually prevented the concert in Marseille. Meanwhile, Italy is just sitting back with 68,000 tickets sold, as if nothing had happened," said Pina Picierno, Vice-President of the European Parliament.

However, Ye's schedule is filling up. Albania is locked in for July 11, with additional stops planned in Prague, New Delhi, Istanbul, Spain, Ye Portugal. If access is restricted, he's proving he'll simply carve out his own lane.
