The US warned about the new leadership of SPAK? The photos and visits that "built" Braho as the successor

The election of Klodian Braho as the new head of SPAK by the High Prosecutorial Council does not seem to have come completely unexpectedly.

For many weeks, public signals, especially those from American diplomacy, seemed to have created a kind of clear prelude to who would take over the leadership of the most important anti-corruption structure in the country. Coordinated meetings, special publications from the US Embassy, and visits by State Department officials created a panorama that today, after the vote, reads quite differently.

The fact that Braho's name was circulating as a favorite was reinforced by a series of official posts from the US Embassy in Tirana, where senior State Department officials specifically requested that a photo with him be published.

Let's take them in turn:

Marc Fleming, Director for West Central European Affairs, visited Albania last month. In a November 17 post, the Embassy published his meetings with heads of justice institutions, including a visit to Klodian Braho's office at SPAK.

Lyn Debevoise, deputy director at the State Department, the day before the election of the new head, on December 10, visited SPAK and praised Altin Dumani's work, underlining that the standard of cooperation with the US is expected to continue with his successor. A detail that today sounds quite significant.

Nancy Van Horn, the US Charge d'Affaires, held an important meeting with Altin Duman on September 18, emphasizing cooperation in the investigation of organized crime, terrorism, and drug trafficking. This meeting was also seen as a kind of orientation for continuity in SPAK, as can be seen from the published photos.

All three of these carefully timed, clearly articulated, and with a visible focus on SPAK today read as a kind of silent "warning" about the direction the institution should take.

So, the fact that high-ranking State Department officials requested photos and publications with Klodian Brahon has created the conviction of clear international support.

The US rarely publishes separate photos with lower-ranking prosecutors, but in this case the US has apparently given clear signals about the new direction... Klodian Braho.
