The United States Embassy in Tirana shared a post on Facebook today announcing that aircraft maintainers and aircrew from the New Jersey National Guard have been in Albania this week, collaborating with the Albanian Air Force for joint training and aircraft maintenance.

The focus of the exercise was search and rescue missions, using the Black Hawk helicopter, the same model that was successfully used to save lives during emergency operations after Hurricane Sandy in 2012.

Aircraft maintainers and aircrew from the New Jersey National Guard were here this week working with the Albanian Air Force to maintain aircraft and prepare for search and rescue missions.

They are using the same Black Hawk helicopter that saved lives during search and rescue operations after Hurricane Sandy in 2012 - and they are working with the same maintenance team! The ability to withstand shocks like natural disasters is an important part of Allied resilience - the vanguard of NATO's defense.
