The number of employees in manufacturing, agriculture, fishing and forestry businesses who will benefit from the compensation of 1,674 ALL due to the increase in the minimum wage is increasing.

With the entry into force of the minimum wage of 40,000 lek from April 1 to soften the effects of the change, the government also approved the decision to distribute compensation worth 1,674 lek to each employee with a minimum wage in the manufacturing, agriculture, fishing and forestry sectors. Beneficiaries of the compensation were only employees with a gross salary of up to 34,000 ALL per month.

This measure, according to Pro Export Albania (PEA), favored a low number in the manufacturing sector. The number of beneficiaries was 1,900 workers. For this reason, at the request and insistence of PEA, it was achieved that this bandage was made from 34,000 to 40,000 ALL.

"So all those production entities that in the border of December 2022 had workers who are paid up to 40,000 lek gross salary, the government will compensate the employers 1,674 lek per person to mitigate the effect of the increase in the minimum wage", asserts Proeksport Albania.

Nationally, from April 1, the minimum wage increased by 6,000 ALL, reaching the level of 40,000 ALL.

Applications through e-Albania for the benefit of compensation started from May 2. The deadline for the request, according to the guidelines published by the Ministry of Finance, must be submitted no later than the 20th of the following month.

The General Directorate of the National Employment and Training Agency (AKPA) is responsible for following the application process and subsidizing the business categories that are defined in the VLKM and guidance.

The instruction also determined that the total amount for each compensation for each month will be based on the number of employees, at the rate of 1,674 ALL for each employee calculated in reference to the contribution period of December 2022.

Applicants must not have unpaid obligations of social security contributions, unpaid fines or be in the process of bankruptcy, otherwise their request will be rejected./Monitor/
