VALEN reacts after student protest: Towards a solution to the issue of the

The VLEN coalition has stated that the issue of the Albanian-language bar exam in North Macedonia is moving towards a concrete solution, following the recent protests by Albanian students in Skopje.

In a public reaction, coalition representatives point out that the problem has not been addressed for more than two decades by previous governments, accusing the DUI of lack of action during its period in power.

According to VLEN, institutional steps are currently being taken to enable the jurisprudence exam to be given in Albanian, describing this as a solution that will be in accordance with the Constitution and the Law on the Use of Languages.

"Just one day after the co-chairs of VLEN, Bilall Kasami and Izet Mexhiti, announced good news regarding the issue of the Albanian language bar exam, today they immediately engaged in a working meeting with Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski to advance a concrete solution to this long-standing problem.

"The meeting discussed the use of languages during the bar exam, with a clear focus on ensuring that the solution is complete, functional and in accordance with the Constitution and the Law on the Use of Languages," the response states.
