Topalli from Florence: Diaspora, a guide for change in Albania

The DP's leader for the Diaspora, Jozefina Topalli, during a meeting with Albanians living in Florence, called for the active engagement of the diaspora in democratic processes in Albania, emphasizing the importance of registering to vote.

" Albania belongs to all Albanians and can be saved by developing, " declared Topalli.

She praised the role of Albanians in the diaspora as ambassadors of Albanian values and strong connections to global opportunities.

You who have chosen to build a life in a new country are an example of what a small nation can do in the world. But have you considered that the diaspora is no longer simply a ‘pillar of support’ for Albania? You are not only our ambassadors. You are also our innovators and perhaps… the guides for the change we seek within Albania ,” she said.

Topalli emphasized that the contribution of the diaspora is crucial for the development and future of the country, calling on compatriots to be active in decision-making for Albania.

Speech by the DP leader for the Diaspora, Jozefina Topalli:

" Dear compatriots,

It is impossible not to feel emotion when I am in front of you, because our history shows us that we, Albanians, know how to stand. Even far from our homeland, you have made Albania feel close, with your strength, with your dedication to traditions, but also with your ability to excel in the world. Today I want to share with you not just a speech, but a vision.”

“You who have chosen to build a life in a new country are an example of what a small nation can do in the world. But have you considered that the diaspora is no longer simply a ‘pillar of support’ for Albania? You are not only our ambassadors. You are also our innovators, our connection to global opportunities, and perhaps… the guides for the change we seek within Albania.”

"Albania has gone through great challenges. Those of you who are far away often see these challenges with pain and concern. But how can we see the Albania of tomorrow? Do we see it as a country that calls on its children to contribute not only financially, but also with ideas, with the experience you have gained abroad? Can we work together for a fairer, more honest and more advanced Albania?"

“Many people think of the diaspora as a voice coming from afar. But I believe that you have the strength to be more than that. You are the ones who can start concrete projects – in education, in economy, in culture. Every idea brought here from Florence, from the heart of art and civilization, can become an inspiration for us in Albania. Change begins where we choose to build bridges and not walls.”

“Today, I don't want to just talk about what has been done or not done in Albania. I want to invite you to think about what we can do together. Albania is not just a country. Albania is our memory, our soul, our roots. And wherever we go, we carry it with us. Our unity, our will, our joint efforts, are the guarantee for a better future.”

Invitation to the Albanian Diaspora: Register to Vote

Dear compatriots,

Albania needs your voice, your power, and your determination! The May 11 parliamentary elections are a golden opportunity to make a profound change and stop the emptying of our country.

From January 11th to March 11th, registration for overseas voting opens. This is your moment to directly influence the future of Albania – a future where young people will not be forced to leave, where Albanian families can build their future on their own land.

I invite you with all my heart:

Register. Use this right to make your voice heard.

Vote. Decide on the future of Albania, to stop corruption, to build a state that serves its citizens and not the other way around.

Make a difference. With your vote, you can lay the foundations for a just and prosperous Albania.

This is a historic moment that should not be missed. Albania is ours, and we can save it and develop it together.

Let's show together that the diaspora is not far away, but a vital part of the solution for the future of our country.
